She is the Italian Minister of Education, University and Research since 2008 and she is Member of the Italian Parliament since 2006. Before then she was city counsellor for tourism in her home town, Brescia. She is a lawyer.

Nichi VENDOLA
He is currently the national spokesperson of the Left Ecology and Freedom. He was elected President of the Puglia Region for the first time in public consultations on 3 and 4 April 2005. He was re-elected after the elections of 28 and 29 March 2010.

Antonio TAJANI (European Commission Vice-President)
He has been working on the frontline of the European politics for the past two decades. He was appointed to the Commission in 2008, starting with the Transport portfolio and then taking charge of Industry and Entrepreneurship. For 14 years, from 1994 to 2008, he was a Member of the European Parliament. Helping European SMEs to access financing and funding, and in particular to restart as green businesses, is a major priority for the Vice-president.

Lambert VAN NISTELROOIJ
He is Member of the European Parliament since 2004 and he has been focusing on regional policy, energy, R&D and the digital agenda. Moreover, for many years Lambert has been the co-chair of the AGE-Intergroup. As a rapporteur for the European Year on Active & Healthy Ageing: Promoting Solidarity Between Generations, Lambert managed to increase the budgetline intended for activities in 2012
Constantijn VAN ORANJE
He is Cabinet member and senior advisor of European Vice-President Neelie Kroes, responsible for the European Digital Agenda. Until recently Constantijn was Head of the Information Policy and Economics team at RAND Europe, and Head of Brussels office of the RAND Corporation.
She is Vice President of the Apulia Region and Regional Ministry for economic development. She is an energic and concrete person and she likes to give shapes to ideas. She believes in the importance of listening to people and that is why she spends time with the citizens.
Elena Gentile is Councillor for Solidarity in the Governmental Board of Puglia Region since May 2005 and since May 2010 she is also delegate for Welfare Policies. She is pediatrician and her professional background has driven her in the research of the integration between social and sanitary policies which is nowadays necessary when dealing with not self-sufficient and disable people.
Professor Lena Gustafsson is since July 2010 Rector of Umea University in Sweden and the former Deputy Director general of Vinnova, the Swedish Governmental agency for Innovation System. She is since 1999 professor in Biotechnology at Chalmers University of Technology where she has also was Vice Rector between 2003 and 2006. Since 2009 she is President of the AAL Association.
Antonio Maria GABELLONE
He is President of the Lecce Province since 2009. Before then he was city counselor for European policies. He is a pharmacist.
Paolo PERRONE
He is the Mayor of Lecce since 2007. In his role he has backed the idea of "Lecce open city". He holds a degree in economics with specialization in Stockholm and Paris.
Director General for the Internationalization of Research of the Ministry of Education, University and Research. His high responsibility duties and skills include activities pertaining general coordination of Framework Programs of the European Union, bilateral and multilateral relations and Space activities both in National and European context.
For the last forty years Alexandre Kalache has combined his medical, epidemiological and gerontological training with research, advocacy and activism on global ageing issues. Under his leadership, the World Health Organization launched the Active Ageing Policy Framework and the global movement on Age-Friendly Cities among many other enduring initiatives. He has recently been listed in the 100 most influential Brazilians.
She is the Italian Ambient Assisted Living Representative and Member of the AAL General Assembly. She is the Head of Unit III inside the Directorate of International Research of the Ministry Education, University and Research of ITALY. She manages European Programme and others Intergovernative Programmes, like Eureka and COST, besides she is the Italian representative in several Europea Initiatives as JPIs, Eranet.
Alain FRANCO MD, PhD
He is since 2008 the President of the International Society for Gerontechnology, ISG, based in The Netherlands. He is the Secretary General and Vice-President of the IAGG, International Association for Gerontology and Geriatrics since 2009. At last he serves since 2009 as the President of the new French National Agency for health, autonomy and technology in the Community (CNRSDA) based in Nice.
He is currently a Program Director at the National Science Foundation in charge of a program called Smart Health and Wellbeing. Concurrently, he has an appointment as a professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, with a joint appointment in the Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology, at Oregon Health and Science University.
Rafael BENGOA
Minister for Health and Consumer affairs of the Basque Government (Spain). He has practised as a doctor in Spain for 7 years in both hospital and primary care. He has worked for over 15 years for the World Health Organization in Copenhagen and in Geneva where he was Director of Management of Chronic Conditions and Director for Health System Policies until 2006.
Olga RIVERA
Deputy Minister for Quality, Research and Health Innovation of the Basque Government (Basque Country, Spain). Until her integration at the Health Ministry, Olga held the Chair of Organization and Business Policy at Deusto University where she was Professor for over ten years and Director of the Research Group on Innovation and Knowledge Management.
He is currently deputy Head of Unit in the European Commission DG Information Society responsible for development of policy and research strategy related to Information and Communication Technologies and Demographic Ageing.
Mike leads the Technology Strategy Board’s Assisted Living Innovation Platform (ALIP) which is responding to the societal challenge of the demographic shift. Mike is also Vice President of the Ambient Assisted Living Executive Board which has similar aims and goals as part of a pan-European investment activity.Mike is also a Chartered Physicist with the Institute of Physics.
Pekka Kahri works as development manager at Tekes, the Finnish funding agency for technology and innovation. He is also the National Contact Person of AAL Joint Programme in Finland and was a member of the AAL Executive board 2007-2009.
He is currently director of SportKreativWerkstatt, a company masterminding, moderating, and facilitating innovation projects for public sponsors and foundations, for companies like BMW, Bosch and BASF, and for government agencies in Germany, Italy, Spain and Mexico. He holds a honorary professorship from Qufu University, China, and is adjunct professor at the Universidad de las Américas, Puebla, Mexico.
Mrs Parent is the director of AGE - the European Older People's Platform, which is a European confederation grouping more than 100 federations and associations of older and retired people or organisations dealing with ageing issues.
When elected member of the Social Platform Management Committee, Mrs Parent was given the task to strengthen the Social Platform's relations with the Belgian Presidency.

Giampaolo ARMELLINI
He is the head of the Research and Development Laboratory at GPI (www.gpi.it), in Trento, Italy. He manages the R&D team, consisting of internal staff, PhD students and undergraduates.
