THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION emphasizes that, in particular, Governments alone cannot take forward employment policies for older people; thus cooperation with the social partners and support of business to promote the employment of older people are necessary (Council Conclusions on Active Ageing, 2010. pg 5. point 42).
It also recalled that the population aged 60 and above will increase at a much faster speed than ever before in the European Union and that the largest increase is expected to occur during the period 2015-2035 when the population aged 60 and above will be increasing by 2 million people every year.
So, it is not only a matter of government policies but a bet of companies to seek for innovative ways to keep us active and collaborate in the sustainability of retirement funds.
They, the elderly, are willing to collaborate and willing to be useful.
