The Active and Assisted Living Programme (AAL Programme) is a funding activity which aims to enhance the quality of life of older people and strengthen the industrial base in Europe through the use of ICT.
The programme is financed by the European Commission and the 21 countries that constitute the partner states: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. The overall budget is €600 million, which is used to co-finance R&D&I projects that deliver ICT solutions which can help improve independent living or ‘ageing well’ among older adults.
The funding activity is implemented by the AAL Association and the funding authorities of its member countries. Through the funding of new projects, the AAL Programme aims to reinforce the European market for Active and Assisted Living products and services.
